Not Dead Yet

Hey guys. Sorry for the lack of updates. I’ve been busy with work and, well, life.
I have a fairly large announcement for V=D. It’s probably become pretty apparent by my lack of updates, but I’m going out and say it: I’m going to take an axe to VED as it is right now.
Don’t take this the wrong way, this doesn’t mean I’m abandoning the project entirely. I just want to take some time off from it for a while and start fresh. I haven’t wanted to say it because I was afraid of disappointing fans. It’s just too overwhelming right now for me to keep up.
Funny thing about V=D is that it wasn’t meant to be what it is. It was originally a side project from our group Studio Gibberish that all the members played around with to blow off steam. I would make weekly strips (which can be seen in the oldest part of the archives) that appeared on the front page of SG. It was something to keep everyone amused while we all worked on larger projects. Then, the larger projects weren’t coming along as quickly as expected and V=D was carrying Studio Gibberish. So we moved it to its own site to be its own entity. And then there was pressure to color it. Great, it dresses it up a bit.
And then we decided that it needed a face. The original idea was to have V=D be the face of SG. So Rumor, Deek and myself created characters based off of goofy versions of ourselves (the birth of Addey, Kate and Deek). Those weren’t originally supposed to be the only characters. There were other onces supposed to be based off of SG members as well. And there was always pressure to include everyone. And at that point the three of us were making a strip for everyone, before finally saying screw it and sticking to the original three.
Deek was quickly overwhelmed by VED and bowed out which whittled it down to Rumor and myself. I was also working, going to school and trying to get another project underway that I had set out to do at that point called Wake Odyssey. Wake Odyssey went on hiatus very quickly. And that was about the time I had trouble keeping up the strip.
Like I said before, V=D was supposed to be the fun side project that we went to when we needed a break from other things we were working on. And slowly it consumed me and I just did it to please everyone else thus becoming the exact opposite of what it was meant for. And my last few strips have been what I feel to be mediocre because of it. I always upload a strip thinking I could have done better.
Like I said, I’m not abandoning V=D. I like the characters way too much to do that. But I hope I’ve given some insight as to why I need some time off from it. I want to try some different projects for a while and see what my brain comes up with without all this extra stress. And then I’ll sit down and make V=D. Because it’ll be fun again like it was supposed to be.
I’ll keep the archives up for you all to enjoy. In the meantime, if you’re curious as to what I’m currently up to you can check out

I’ll keep you posted on my blog.
